We will install the

for you, all at no
additional charge.
To use YOUR phone in
Costa Rica with one
of our GSM SIM
cards, YOUR phone
must be unlocked and
operate on the 1800
band.
What is LOCKING?
Many carriers,
especially in the
United States and
Canada, offer
cellular phones at
special prices (some
even free) with a
service contract. To
deter the user from
putting in a
competitor's SIM
card, they lock the
band - that is,
place a code in the
phone system that is
only known to them.
When you try to
insert a SIM card
from another
provider, the phone
is locked and will
not register with
the new network.
Unlocking the
phone is simply
knowing the code.
Some providers have
been known to sell
that code to their
customers. Check
with yours.
If you do not
have the code, YOUR
phone is called
"locked" and cannot
be used on any other
network, including
in Costa Rica.
Phones known as
World Phones
usually are Unlocked
and can be used in
Costa Rica without
any problems.
Another requirement
of using YOUR phone
in Costa Rica is
that it must be
compatible with the
local network. The
3G service in Costa
Rica works on the
850 band, while the
GSM on the 1800
band.
Most high end phones
are either tri or
quad band, meaning
they will work on
three or four of the
four bands and are
compatible for use
in Costa Rica.
Cheaper or lower
priced phones
operate on only one
or two bands and
usually region
specific, like North
America or Europe.
To know what band
YOUR phone is
operating on, do a
Google search of
your make and model
phone or gives us a
call or
email us
with your question.
We will be more than
glad to help.
